Industrial Prototype
A new device for an industrial application required prototyping before moving to production. It would have cost $50 000 and months of waiting to have all the components machined but with 3D printing, it can be done at a fraction of the cost. There was one component that required several iterations to get right and each time the part was 3D printed and delivered the next day.
Noteworthy:
- Both large and small threads were required. Largest thread was 15cm in diameter and the smallest was 5.7mm outer diameter!
- this device has several moving parts that interacted with each other and required tight tolerances
